We're Back Again: The all day date

We're Back Again

We understand that it's been about a month since we last posted, nonetheless it will be awesome. Dorrett and I have been having a lot of fun around our Toronto City.( as much as we can with her college schedule). This adventure originated from an idea of going to Niagara Falls, When that idea didn't work , We had to top it with an all day date. We will tell you that this date consist of lots of walking and more walking, which we are proud to say "endured".

Our day started of with taking Dorrett to the city hall to ice skate. ( I didnt tell her prior, she was a little surprised :( )  We rented our skates for 10$ a piece, for 2 hours. We ended up utilizing the skate time which was fun because we didn't skate all season. We are not going to mention that we fell twice on the ice, we will  only say that we knew what we were doing.

Totally enjoyed our skate ( the skates needed an extra cushion if you know what I mean

After skating for 2 hours, it was finally lunch time, We had a few restaurant to pick from ,yet we picked one of those trucks at the side, where they serve delicious fried food. We justified going there because it would save time, anyhow you know the saying it's not so much what goes in but what comes out and nothing came out (we were contented by that). After lunch we continued our journey for about 3-4 km, where ended up going to Scotiabank Movie Theater. They had a few good movie to choose from ,so we ended up picking Side Effect with the help of the counter lady.

We will try a little commentary, this movie started off very slow and later as the movie progressed it became very much faster. We will say this was not the best because it was not, but we will say it was one of the most confusing movies we have seen. We will also mention that the last 30 minutes of the movie was impossible to predict and it will make you feel stupid for trying because you will think you were right.

One of the coolest things happened, as I, Gus went to use the washroom, they had a poster indicating that the theater will show old movie for just 6 dollars in big screen , such as Wizard of OZ  (1939), The Great Escape (1963), To Catch a Thief (1955), Some like it Hot (1959) with Marilyn Monroe ,and etc.

We  have became proud member of Monsters University, as you see these picture, you will ultimately believe we were accepted into university and that monster do exist

we would have loved to say that this was the best day ever and that our date finished here, but it wasn't. We ended up going to the far corner of Scarborough and join ac-couple friends for Friday Night Blast at the neighborhood Church. We finally finished our day at almost 1:30am, where we saluted each other and went our own ways.

That I say was an awesome date, tone in for our next adventures

Night at the AGO

I was thinking one day of things to do with my girlfriend, but at the moment I have few hours at work, so we need something to do that is low priced. So I googled, cheap things to do in Toronto and what came up was this, website referring to awesome things in Toronto for a low or no price at all. http://gocanada.about.com/od/canadiancities1/tp/toronto_cheap_or_free.htm

We decided that on Wednesday night when the gates were open, we would check it out the AGO.

We we're actually surprised that we can just walk in and see everything. We ended up walking everywhere looking at the paintings and empty frames.(wink wink)

(They really do have empty frames, who knew)

I believe we only explored maybe half of AGO, before it was 8:30 closing time. Its really cool in there, although it can we boring if you stay in the same place to long. I might have bored Dorrett at times, well all to all it was a sophisticated night for the both of us.

I also found it pretty neat, that AGO, made it interactive for visitors, such as a word wall, where you can put words in order to leave quotes and drawing desk in front of paintings for you to draw.

( Instead of quotes, sayings that mean absolutely nothing to everyone else but you)

There is this way cool staircase that goes in circles, its long, so I hope you make it up all the way. Our adventure at AGO was definitely fun, mostly when the security guard approached us with annoyance after I shadowed a painting in order to point out detail. (might have touched one, sorry AGO)

(Took me forever to get Dorrett in a picture, Success)

So remember, keep a distance from the painting and join us on our next adventure

Train Jumpers!

At the end of this week we decided to travel along the TTC for an adventure(and it sure was!) Imagine two young people jumping out of trains so quickly at every stop only to run back on as soon as the door chimes. Well that was us! It was tricky sometimes, if we had rather slow walkers in front of us or if the train doors were not close enough to the stop names to make a quick dash. We got a lot of stares and a few laughs, whether they were laughing at us or with us well never know, but it was a good time. This may sound odd, but traveling without a set destination(or if you've got nothing else to do) with another person gives you time to enjoy eachothers company. Just bring some snacks and an open schedule and it may actually be fun(one of the fun+free things to do in this city)

The very first post

My name is Gustavo Morales and  she is Dorrett White ( my girlfriend )
We're are going to explorer Toronto as you have never seen before, neighborhoods, stores, restaurants, landscapes, and our little travels. Through pictures we will show you our city from small to big places.

TORONTO

A little fact on Toronto

Toronto (/tɵˈrɒntoʊ\, locally /ˈtrɒnoʊ/) is the largest city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario. It is located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. A relatively modern city, Toronto's history dates back to the late 18th century, when its land was first purchased by the British Crown from the Mississaugas of the New Credit. The settlement was later established as the Town of York and proclaimed as the new capital of Upper Canada by its lieutenant governor, John Graves Simcoe. In 1834, York was incorporated as a city and renamed to its present name. The city was ransacked in the Battle of York during the War of 1812 and damaged in two great fires in 1849 and in 1904. Since its incorporation, Toronto has repeatedly expanded its borders through amalgamation with surrounding municipalities, most recently in 1998.

The city has 2.6 million residents, according to the 2011 Census. It is currently the fifth most populous city in North America. Thecensus metropolitan area (CMA) had a population of 5,583,064,[2] and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) had a population of 6,054,191 in the 2011 Census.[3] Toronto is at the heart of the Greater Toronto Area, and the densely populated region in Southern Ontario known as the Golden Horseshoe. Its cosmopolitan and international population[4] reflects its role as an important destination for immigrants to Canada.[5] Toronto is one of the world's most diverse cities by percentage of non-native-born residents, with about 49% of the population born outside Canada.[4][5][6]
